The theme of this new issue is Another Place. Readers of this new issue will be taken to an assortment of other places: a public hospital in Bangladesh; the changing small town of Bisbee, Arizona; the commute to and from work at a community college; Stalinist Albania as remembered by someone who grew up there; various travel stops below the Mason-Dixon line; an everyday visit to a Manchester, England park; alongside those with no place to call home in Reno, Nevada; a reminiscent cycling holiday in Italy; cemeteries of Hollywood, California and Queens, New York; behind the scenes of supermarkets on both U.S. coasts; and to the movies with our regular sports column for consideration of a film about playing football in prison.
Conditions permitting, we intend to hold some public events to promote this new issue. The first public reading will be sponsored by the 6/15 Community Garden in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We hope this event will be the first of many others to come. Other venues will likely be in Brooklyn NY, Chicago IL and the Bay Area CA. We will keep you informed once those details are finalized.
