Stormy Daniels has effectively shattered many myths and taboos regarding appropriate female behavior. She is not merely a porn actress. She is also an incredibly smart and talented woman. Her talents extend beyond being able to spread her legs far and wide. At the moment Daniels is challenging an extremely powerful man: Donald J. Trump. She refuses to bend over and just take the silencing of her story about their affair, Trump’s family and his business practices. This articulate and dynamic woman has essentially told Trump: “Here is the $130,000 your lawyer paid to me. I am returning it to you. I am as powerful as you are and I will not allow my voice to be muzzled.” She is not backing down from this bully – and has Trump right where she wants him: by the balls.
During the course of his term as president Trump has confronted numerous scandals and has emerged from them with next to no battle scars. The guy is like Teflon: whatever he says or does bounces off of him. This current debacle is, however, far more interesting and potentially devastating. Will Daniels take down Trump? Probably not. But she is obviously not going away. She seems to have outwitted Trump at his own game. Stormy Daniels has become an embarrassing figure in American households, making mothers and fathers cringe and wince when their children inquire about who that woman is. The name recognition has succeeded in bolstering her career, and has possibly opened the door to a run for political office. Her tenacity and courage may also land her a slot on television. If looked at in terms of what an aspiring American is supposed to do, Daniels is doing everything right: getting ahead and advancing her career in the process, with the aim of making money. The problem? Her main claim to fame is her performance in porn films. Yet few thought that a loudmouthed blowhard and billionaire television star could ever become president. Now he sits in the Oval Office. It is no great stretch of the imagination to envision Daniels carving out a space for herself in American politics.
Daniels is no dummy. She has turned common stereotypes associated with women involved in the adult film industry upside down, and is helping to recast the gender roles of American women. She is doing more than giving Trump a run for his money. Her strength, independence and confidence stand in contrast to the current culture of endless victimhood. She is not afraid to say what she thinks and willing to fight for her dignity. This is a breath of fresh air in the stifling atmosphere of politically correct prudery and grandstanding. Her human side shines forth strongly as well: she loves horses and is raising children. Her life is as oddly theatrical and exaggerated as that of the president. When someone says to her “Hey, you’re a whore,” she responds with the statement: “That’s successful whore to you!” In the strange neon glow of American culture, society and politics, Trump may have finally met his match.
